How a medical-tech company built resilience under life-critical pressure.
We can’t make people happy as leaders, but we can definitely create the conditions and equip them to develop, to flourish, and to be better individuals.
Head of Critical Care, Edwards Lifesciences Europe
Pre-intervention
Edwards Lifesciences Europe’s Critical Care division develops AI algorithms that support clinicians during high-stakes surgeries and intensive care recovery. In a fast-moving, evidence-led environment with a life-critical mission, the team needed resilience to become a measurable competence, a condition for sustaining their mission over the long run.
Intervention
- Baseline resilience assessment to establish where the team stood as an organization, in line with the team’s evidence-led culture
- Identification of internal ambassadors — high-resilience individuals from the assessment leveraged to support and model practice across the team
- End-of-program measurement to make the impact visible and quantifiable
Post-intervention
- Greater self-awareness across the team — team members now actively monitoring their own energy levels
- Targeted support for the younger generation — a deliberate response to the insight that resilience varies meaningfully by age and experience
