Founder

Dr Sven Hansen is the founder of The Resilience Institute. From a medical family, Sven joined Pathfinders, a special forces team in South Africa, before completing a degree medicine. His passion for sport and flow took him into sports medicine and a personal practice in resilience.

Asking if organisations might be interested in applying sports science to good business and leadership, Sven began a corporate health business in 1988. He completed his MBA in 1993 and set about building an evidence-based, integral and practical solution to sustainable performance in life, sport and business.

Over 20 years Sven has worked extensively with High Performance Sport, professional firms, banks, corporates, government, entrepreneurship, universities, and schools.  He leads the development of The Resilience Institute’s methodology and is an experienced executive coach, keynote speaker and leadership trainer.

He has a specific interest in developing leadership teams and the application of biological principles to leadership, strategy and resilience in the community. Sven lives in Auckland with Susan and their two children. He is a keen surfer, paddler and kitesurfer.

Njabulo B Sithole
Partner, South Africa

Njabulo is the founder and Chief Executive of “The Resilience Institute South Africa” (RISA). Her role includes overall business strategy, market focus, gaining and sustaining a competitive advantage within the environment which the business operates. She also has over 20 years’ experience as the CEO of Omame Investments (Pty) Ltd. During her tenure the company has created a diversified portfolio of Investments, spanning from infrastructure projects through Public Private Partnership ( PPP’s) in Facilities Management to Pharmaceuticals, Aluminium Processing, Mining, Food Processing to name a few. Prior to that she worked as a consulting Psychologist for various government departments in Performance Management Systems, Employee Assistance Programs and Human Resource Planning.

She obtained her MSC Executive Global Masters in Management from the London School of Economics (LSE) and Masters in Ed. Psychology from University of KwaZulu Natal. In addition she has a Diploma in Company Direction and Diploma in Management Accounting and Finance.

Growing up her parents instilled love, respect and hard work within the family, often giving her responsibilities at a young age this has created a strong foundation for a resilient mindset. She is an active runner who believes human beings have enormous resilience and it’s a continuous learning process in life and business.

Stuart Taylor
Managing Partner, Australia

In 2002, while climbing the ladder to corporate executive, Stuart was diagnosed with Brain Cancer; prognosis 2.5 years. Far from accept the prognosis; Stuart embarked on a journey back to physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual health. Part of this journey included creating The Resilience Institute in Australia to share his experience and philosophy with Australian organisations. Stuart has recently celebrated his 10 year milestone and is going from strength to strength. Prior to joining The Resilience Institute, Stuart was an Associate Director with KPMG and then worked as a senior manager in a global corporation. Peta Sigley
Chief Knowledge Officer, Australia

Peta Sigley is a Principal with The Resilience Institute in Australia. Thierry Moschetti
Partner, UK

Thierry established The Resilience Institute in Southeast Asia and in the UK. He has twenty years of team management, business development and training experience in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia where he has been living since 2004. Before embarking on the journey with The Resilience institute, he was Regional General Manager Greater China for a British listed organization in the service industry.

Thierry holds a Master of Science in Management, he is a certified ACTA trainer & assessor (Singapore Workforce Development Agency), a certified trainer in Emotional Intelligence and in Qigong, an ancient Chinese practice that combines gentle body movements with awareness and breathing for energy and relaxation.

Bruce Robinson
Partner, China

Bruce leads The Resilience Institute in Shanghai overseeing the development of our training programs in Greater China. Prior to that, he was the Chief Representative of the Shanghai Representative Office and a Managing Director for Avenue Capital Group, a New York based private equity firm. He has over twenty-five years of investment, banking and business management experience in the Americas and Asia, where he has lived since 2005. Bruce specializes in organizational and individual transitions and managing diverse teams. He has led the establishment of new offices, as well as managed acquisitions and restructurings. Bruce holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and is an executive coach. Recent client assignments include multinational companies as well as educational institutions.

Bruce grew up in northern California, graduated from the University of California Berkeley, is an active runner and a vegetarian. Laurent Levisalles

Based in France, Laurent is co-founder of the Resilience Institute Europe.
For 20 years Laurent held several positions as managing director in the retail industry in the US, Europe and China for start-ups and global companies. Following his strong appeal for Human Sciences, he spent much of his energy on people development and management.

Katrien Audenaert

Based in Belgium, Katrien joined the Resilience Institute after having lived several years in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

After 15 years of experience in the legal field (first as a legal advisor to the Belgian Prime Minister Dehaene and later as a Magistrate in the Belgian Constitutional Court), Katrien decided to make a career shift as an executive coach when she moved to Asia. Declan Scott

Declan joined the Resilience team in 2015 and brings practical experience from both the professional practice field across a number of countries to hands on business knowledge in owning and growing a business from Startup stage. Manish Arneja

Paul Salmon
Senior Manager, Australia

Paul has a distinguished background in leadership in education, with extensive experience in management, program design, staff development, and both teacher training and student facilitation. He has diverse talents, being able to move almost effortlessly between management and operational logistics through to running outdoor challenge experiences, giving lectures or facilitating keynote presentations.

Having spent almost three decades designing and leading programs on school camps, retreats and leadership development pathways, Paul has seen first-hand the positive impact that can emerge from eye-opening encounters and the noticeable difference in outcomes for those who continuously self-reflect and adjust for growth. Paul grew up in an army family and has frequently faced the challenge of change throughout his life, attending 9 schools and moving home more than 18 times. He has also lived through the loss of 2 siblings. His belief is that these ‘thrive or flounder’ experiences have fostered his resilience.

Sharon Griffin

Before joining Springfox Sharon spent over two decades at a leading global professional services firm where she held senior HR roles across the US, UK, Australia and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Springfox, Rebecca spent over 20 years working in the fast-paced environment of Information, Communications and Technology. She has observed the compounding benefits when individuals, teams and organisations are genuinely invested in building resilience and agility.

Whilst physical well-being has always been important, in more recent years her focus has expanded to mental well-being. Rebecca chose to take a more integrated approach and explored mindfulness practices, ultimately leading her to re-shape her vision and bring her best to all facets of life. Simon Cook
Director, Australia

Simon has had over 30 years of successful leadership experience in multi-site and major retail businesses, safety and global franchising as well as corporate commercial roles in both the UK and Australian energy sector. He has a track record of increasing the resilience, positivity and performance levels of individuals and teams. Those he work with come to appreciate that the method of achieving results is just as important as the result itself.

As a sought-after coach and mentor, he is valued for his insight and ability to deeply connect with those he works with, cultivating a safe, authentic and trusting environment where positive challenges deliver positive results. When facilitating, Simon draws on both his professional and personal experience to bring many of the concepts arounds resilience, compassion and well-being to life.

Simon’s previous work in investigating major incidents has often exposed him to the challenges which are often inherent in a stressful workplace. He has also had his own struggles with maintaining personal resilience which have included deep personal loss and challenging commercial environments.

This has led him to develop an approach that is anchored to a set of personal values that are based on family, balance and an optimistic and positive approach to life. Gavin Gui
Resilience Coach

Gavin is an Executive Coach with The Resilience Institute. He has 20 years of experience in senior management roles for reputable MNCs in Asia Pacific. Prior to being a full time coach and start-up mentor he was the Regional Head (South East Asia) for Hilti Group. Gavin has passionately groomed a large number of senior leaders up to Country General Managers as well as young, high-potential talents across Asia Pacific. He also has successfully gotten his teams through several business turnarounds and times of crisis, embodying himself as a role model of resilience. Under his leadership, Gavin’s company received the Best Employer Award by Aon Hewitt for its unique blend of fostering a caring and high-performing culture.

With more than a decade of resilience practice in his life, Gavin has now proudly become the accredited Resilience Coach for the Resilience Institute. Coaching Resilience is a fundamental part of Gavin’s portfolio career and he continues to enthusiastically incubate and grow new technology start-ups as well as mentor young entrepreneurs.

Originally from China, Gavin has been lived in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, the UK and Singapore for his international career. He is bilingual in Chinese and English and has a passion for learning about diversities in culture and people.

A Senior Consultant for The Resilience Institute, Lalit is also a co-founder and director at Ananta Universal, a Jakarta-based boutique Leadership Transformation and Consulting company. Lalit supports investment strategy and transformational design/implementation as an Operating Partner with an NY-based private equity investment firm and since 2015 has served as an affiliate for Aberkyn, a McKinsey and Co. owned leadership development firm. He previously headed the retail and apparel manufacturing divisions of a leading Indonesian Conglomerate. Lalit co-founded the ICF Jakarta Chapter with a vision to facilitate growth of professional coaching in Indonesia.

Lalit trained as Facilitator of Transformation with Gita Bellin and Associates and Corp Evolution. He is Certified in Ontological, Epistemological and Transformational Coaching as well as Cultural Transformation Tools from Barretts Value Center. Thuy Le
Consultant - Vietnam

Thuy Le is a Consultant with The Resilience Institute in Vietnam, based in Ho Chi Minh. She has over 20 years experience in both front-line and back office business functions. Thuy began working first in sales, marketing and customer services before her HR career with AIA Insurance Company where she was in charge of staff training and development. She has held additional HR management and leadership roles as for ICI Paints, Japan Tobacco International and Lafarge Vietnam.

People development is Thuy’s passion. She always delivers high-impact training and coaching programs from functional HR to resilience, development and mindset topics supporting communication, personal effectiveness, transformation and change.

In 2016 she figured out her life purpose and began the journey of training and coaching people to get in touch with themselves and improve their quality of thoughts, work and life, and learn how to step out of the comfort zone, face their fears and continue to grow. Her ultimate mission is helping people live the life of purpose, abundance and happiness.

Chai Lee Fong
Consultant

Chai Lee Fong is an experienced executive coach and training consultant. Besides training, she is also the co-counsellor of a local counselling centre. She is one of the few bilingual coaches who have experience in both counselling and coaching with people from more than 15 nationalities.

She was the Regional Training Advisor at one of the largest insurance companies in SEA, in charge of both soft skills and financial planning certification training. Prior to her appointment with the insurance company she was the Business Development Manager of the Singapore Training and Development Association (STADA). One of her major projects funded by the International Enterprise (IE) Singapore was to oversee a Human Resource Development market research project in Shanghai. Her job included recruitment of trainers within Singapore, Malaysia and China, providing HRD consultancy services to clients in China and Singapore and designing of training programs for her clients in both countries.

Being in the field of coaching and training and development over 19 years, she brings with her rich experiences and a wealth of knowledge in this critical area of talent management.  She has coached and trained many people in how to build cohesive teams, change management, drive organisational effectiveness and leadership, sales and customer service, and stress management.

Lee Fong is a certified Coach approved by International Coaching Federation (ICF), certified Outdoor Experiential Trainer by Singapore Training and Development Association (STADA), certified Advance Behavioural, Career and People Development Consultant by Institute of Motivational Learning (IML), USA (using DISC and People Keys), certified Stress Management Consultant by IML, USA, The Leadership Challenge Certified Facilitator by Wiley, USA, Certified Extraordinary Leader, Extraordinary Coach, Elevating Feedback, and Leadership Lever Trainer by Zenger Folkman. Shalini is deeply passionate about transformation and learning. Her mission is to facilitate the process of growth through transformation of Leaders, Culture and Systems and she aspires for a world that operates from the paradigm of ecological, collective and collaborative mindsets.

Shalini is a Senior Consultant with The Resilience Institute and since 2015 has served as an affiliate with Aberkyn, a McKinsey & Co. owned leadership development firm. Shalini Co-founded International Academy for Deep Transformation in Indonesia where her involvement included program design, development and mentoring as well as ICF accreditation. She Co-founded the ICF Chapter in Jakarta in 2011 and serves as a Trustee on its Board.  Her professional life began as a merchandising and marketing professional after completing an MBA and she worked as a financial analyst after successfully completing three years of CFA studies.

Shalini has worked as both a Facilitator of Transformation and Coach for over 15 years and has vast experience with Leadership and Culture transformation journeys and Coaching in diverse sectors. She is passionate about developing coaches and mentor-coaches.

Shalini is a certified Facilitator of Transformation with Gita Bellin & Associates and Corporate Evolution. She is certified in Culture Transformation Tools as well as in Ontological, Epistemological and Transformational Coaching. After 17 years in corporate life and having experienced the power of effective coaching, she has decided to focus on helping people navigate their corporate environments in order to leverage their potential while fulfilling deeper aspirations.

As an Integral Coach, Marie-Liesse brings a holistic approach to help her clients overcome their challenges and make changes by integrating mind, heart and body. She develops personalised programs alongside her clients with an overall purpose and a set of measurable outcomes. She helps clients reach long-term excellence, which means that they become both self-correcting and self-generating. Beyond helping her clients in key areas such as communication, stakeholder influence and stress management, she believes the coaching relationship must inspire a sense of confidence, enthusiasm and excitement about the future in order for the journey to be successful. She works with leaders from Asia, Europe and the US across various industries.

Marie-Liesse started her career as a management consultant and then spent over 10 years in leadership positions at Danone in Paris and Hong Kong in the Corporate Communications and Marketing departments. While she enjoyed being exposed to multi-cultural teams, complex organisations and cultural transformations, she was also trying to find a balance as a mother of four boys.

She holds a Masters in Economics and Human Resources from Sciences Po Paris (France) and in European Studies from  Sussex University (UK). She is a certified Integral Coach from ICF accredited New Ventures West and is an associate of Emergenetics. Convinced by the Resilience model, she is walking the talk and finds flow through yoga and mindfulness as well as constantly growing through learning new concepts and practices (most recently in the field of Appreciative Inquiry).

Marleen Weening
Consultant - Executive Coach - Switzerland

Originally from the Netherlands, Marleen is now based in Basel, Switzerland.

Marleen holds a degree in Economics/International Business. After years in recruitment and marketing, she decided to live and work internationally. Spending almost two decades in the UK, USA, Japan and the Czech Republic, she now decided to live and work in Basel.

Marleen studied the fields of neuroplasticity, positive psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence for years and holds certificates in Coaching and Training. She is also certified to coach with the neurofeedback technology of HeartMath.

Based in Switzerland, originally from Belgium, Benoit is an entrepreneur.

He spent 25 years of his business life developing commercial real estate services companies in Europe, America and Asia where he lived during 5 years.

Convinced that entrepreneurship is a core source of innovation and societal wealth creation, Benoit is today involved in meaningful and socially responsible projects.

He is the co-founder and CEO of Montagne Alternative, an inspiring seminar centre in the Swiss Alps, co-founder of The Resilience Institute Europe and president of the Board of B Corp Switzerland.

Pauline Soares
Administrative Support - Europe

Based in France, Pauline joined the Resilience Institute Europe in 2018 as back office support.

Holding a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality Management from Paris-Dauphine University Pauline spent 10 years in luxury hotels management. She then decided to shift her career to adjust her family life. She now provides administrative support with a customer care service background.

Willing to follow the digital evolution of our world, she is also taking a course to become Digital Project Manager.

Concerned about the world we borrow from our children, she is engaged in a zero-waste process focusing on what really matters.

Dominique Berdoz
Consultant, Switzerland

Originally from Germany, Dominique lives and works in Lausanne, Switzerland.

A graduate nurse, she studied psychology and has a Master’s degree in psychosociology. Dominique then works in the promotion and prevention of health in business. She also teaches at the Haute Ecole de Santé in Fribourg.

Very interested in the different ways of stimulating people’s resources, she got a postgraduate degree in positive psychology at the University of Zurich. This leads Dominique to share her expertise within many corporate environments.

Anne Dufour
Business Manager - Europe

Anne started her career in the children’s wear industry by managing the subsidiary of a major French brand in the United States. She was then Retail Manager for an English luxury brand.

To accompany her family abroad, she put her corporate career on hold and became teacher, while volunteering for different associations.

Back in France, she got involved from the start with the creation of the Resilience Institute Europe. She’s in charge of the back office as well as the front office where she brings rigor, professionalism and generosity. She is also in charge of special projects.

Julie Zhang

Julie is a Senior Consultant with the Resilience Institute in Shanghai.  She is an experienced learning and development leader, an accredited executive coach and a certified Project Manager and Change Agent. Most recently she was with Allianz corporation where she held leadership positions responsible for operational excellence, strategy and IT. She also has worked for professional consulting firms such as EDS/A.T. Kearney, PwC Consulting and IBM.  Recent client assignments include Chinese companies and Multi-national Corporations. She received her Bachelors of Arts from Shanghai University in International Business and her MBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).  She speaks fluent English, and is a native Chinese (Mandarin) speaker.
